You’re looking at something brand new, but deeply rooted in our history—Splatter Apparel byDru! After 40 years of making waves with splatter fishing rods, we’re bringing the same tradition to your wardrobe.

If you’ve been following RodsbyDru, you know that splatter is more than just a paint job. It’s our signature look, created by Drew back in the 1980s. The story starts in a garage, where Drew and his crew kept their rods after long days of commercial bait fishing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t uncommon to have rods stolen overnight. So when his buddies asked for something “crazy” and “wacky” that could help prove ownership in a pawn shop, Drew broke out the paint and got creative. Over the next 40 years of building custom rods, splatter turned into one of the most sought after designs.

That’s how the byDru splatter style was born. What started as a solution became an identity—so unique that, over 40 years later, splatter rods are found on professional sportfishing boats across the world.

Now, we’ve taken that legacy to a new canvas. We worked with a team of talented designers and clothing aficionados to create the first-ever byDru Splatter Board Shorts. Available in marlin blue and bahama blue, these shorts blend the same tradition and individuality that made the splatter iconic, now reimagined for life on the water (or wherever your adventures take you).
